UNESCO World Heritage Tour: In the Bodinggraben

The Kalkalpen National Park is the most significant forest national park in the Alps. With its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is part of a Europe-wide project to protect the last remaining beech primeval forests. These ancient forests, with their diversity, are a natural treasure. Here, primeval forest species such as the Alpine longhorn beetle and the white-backed woodpecker find a home. The Bodinggraben is considered the most beautiful valley closure in the Kalkalpen National Park. We will hike through the wild forests of the former hunting grounds of the Counts of Lamberg and learn how the valley got its name.
