TOURDATA

Messingstraße 7, 4462 Reichraming

Natural streams have become rare these days - they are often built over, straightened, or dammed. As a result, the streams have not only lost their natural dynamics, but many species that are dependent on this habitat have also disappeared. In the Kalkalpen National Park, there are over 200 kilometers of freely flowing, natural mountain streams. Here, stone crayfish, native brown trout, and other endangered species thrive. Christian Pichler-Scheder, a water ecologist at the Kalkalpen National Park, will demonstrate on this exciting tour how food webs function in a mountain stream and how the national park ensures that native species can develop undisturbed by foreign competitors.
