Meadow Dreams in the Sea of Forests

The most beautiful place in the world - as the well-known writer Marlen Haushofer once said - is the mountain meadow. These meadows tell stories of past cultivation and are exceptionally rich in species: Colorful flowers, dancing butterflies, busy bees - a buzzing and humming concert of diversity and an experience for all the senses. Today, such meadows are rare, threatened habitats. In the Kalkalpen National Park, meadows and alpine pastures are nestled within a sea of forests. We will discover how they were formed, what care their biodiversity receives, and which plants and animals particularly thrive there on this tour. Difficulty: Easy.

The tour in Molln takes us from the meeting point at the Scheiblingau parking lot along the National Park Experience Trail Water Traces into the Bodinggraben. We will hike to the Rotwagalm and observe the meadows around the Jagahäusl.

The tour at Hengstpass takes us from the meeting point at the Zickerreith parking lot over the Kreuzaualm to the meadows in Holzgraben. (Ascent approx. 100 meters) Refreshment options afterwards: Snack station Jagahäusl in Bodinggraben; Alpine rest Zickerreith at Hengstpass.
