Marlo Grosshardt sings beautifully provocatively about the world around him. The 23-year-old from Hamburg wraps his critical lyrics in a rough pop guise. His powerful voice carries us through nostalgic melodies and captivating rhythms. His debut album "Ein letztes Liebeslied" (A Last Love Song) offers a dystopian outlook, dramatically staged yet beautifully crafted. It is divided into two acts. The first act focuses on love and the romantic apocalypse, reflecting a resignation towards the dystopia that Marlo envisions. "Let’s drink, so that it will soon be over." Following this, tales of failed tax evasion on the high seas in a finite world are told. In the second part, Marlo returns to the here and now. The stories become beautiful, provocative, and concrete. "Jungfernstieg" depicts the moment of two young people experiencing apparent wealth and love. In "Angestellt sein" (Being Employed), the monotony of working life is sung about. In "Christian Lindner," Marlo expresses his frustration with liberalism, but without being overly didactic. The tour for the album was a great success. Many shows were sold out and had to be moved to larger venues. Marlo can emotionally touch the audience with his profound lyrics, while also getting them to dance alongside his wonderful band.
