Neustiftgasse 1, 1070 Wien

After a lavish masked ball and a passionate night of love, Albertine and Fridolin reveal to each other secret desires from before their marriage and from the summer just past in Denmark. Irritated by his wife's erotic thoughts, Fridolin allows himself to be carried away through the night in Vienna the following evening. He encounters a young prostitute and meets his old university colleague Nachtigall again in a corner pub, who now makes a living as a bar pianist. From Nachtigall, Fridolin learns a secret password that allows him to sneak into a villa on the outskirts of the city. Here, a ritual celebration of eroticism is held under strict discretion. His experience, as well as the dream Albertine recounts in the morning, shake the certainties of their bourgeois existence. Arthur Schnitzler began writing the DREAM NOVEL as early as 1907 but only completed it after the end of his own marriage in 1925. Director Johanna Wehner, known for her precise, highly musical theater works, tells in her interpretation of people whose comfortable bourgeois lives are suddenly invaded by something foreign and threatening.
