"Kai and Funky from Ton Steine Scherben"

Is there a German rock band whose songs have hardly lost their relevance even after more than 50 years? Probably not many, but certainly one: TON STEINE SCHERBEN. Since their dissolution in 1985, two original members have been touring through German-speaking countries to this day: founding member Kai Sichtermann (bass, since 1970) and drummer Funky K. Götzner (since 1974, now playing Cajón and percussion). Since spring 2023, they have been performing together with singer-songwriter Birte Volta (vocals, guitar). Birte embodies both folk-blues and the rock 'n' roll that emerged from it with passion and poetry, drawing on years of street and stage experience both domestically and abroad, with her solo project as well as being a singer and guitarist in various formations of these genres (including BM STEREO). The year 2025 marks the 75th birthday of the late founding members of SCHERBEN, Rio Reiser (vocals) and RPS Lanrue (guitar) – the trio plays their concerts in special remembrance of these two songwriters. The band TON STEINE SCHERBEN has inspired and is often played and covered everywhere. The originals Kai & Funky, along with singer Birte Volta, perform in clubs and at festivals, captivating audiences with their authentic, unmistakable sound featuring the repertoire of Rio Reiser and SCHERBEN. The trio keeps the memories of a rebellious time alive: songs in the front row! Pure legend!
