Quickly and pointedly, he lets Tom and Louise – he’s a music critic, she’s a doctor – navigate the everyday madness of their life together. After a dry spell and an affair, they try to salvage what can be saved in couples therapy. However, we don’t experience them in the sessions themselves, but rather in the moments in between, both spatially and temporally: During a morale-boosting drink at the pub across the street, they quickly outline the topics to be discussed. In clever and rapid dialogues, fundamental questions about human love life come up quite casually. And suddenly, things are on the table that anyone with relationship experience might occasionally think – but would certainly never say.
