This heartwarming and loving comedy (inspired by the acclaimed Italian film Feast in August) follows an unusual chosen family learning to embrace life in all its facets. The film had its world premiere at the London Film Festival 2024, where it won the Audience Award.

Edward (James Mc Ardle) is a writer in his mid-thirties who is finally on the verge of his literary breakthrough. He lives with his mother Alma (Fionnula Flanagan), whom he cares for lovingly. Since a stroke, she can only communicate through a tablet with speech output and relies on his help.

Edward's friends, the couple Billy and Colm, as well as the psychotherapist Dermot, are also tied to their mothers. However, since Edward is always accommodating and tends to put his own needs aside, his buddies fly off for the weekend to the Pride Parade in Gran Canaria, leaving Edward in charge of their three quirky elderly mothers. Edward now has to balance his budding career with the care of four eccentric, argumentative, and completely different old ladies.

The director shows at a brisk pace how Edward attempts to navigate daily life with the ladies' quartet, and sensitively depicts how he gradually develops the necessary self-confidence to think of himself for once.
