The Sebastiansfriedhof in Salzburg. A baroque resting place for prominent Salzburg residents. In the midst of this cultural site lies a murdered young man. Elias, a novice with the Franciscan monks. Commissioner Merana and his team begin their investigation. Was the young man an unwitting witness to the theft of church artworks? Or is the murder related to the fact that Elias recently made contact with the right-wing populist HPÖ, the Home Party of Austria? During the course of the investigation, Merana encounters a lot of anger. Anger that simmers. Anger among people who no longer know how to make a living amidst rapidly rising costs. Anger that is stoked by far-right parties that incite hatred against the system. Anger that threatens to explode. Did Elias discover something he was not supposed to know?
