Portrait of Tao / Low Life Rich Kids

Under the name PORTRAIT OF TAO, the multi-instrumentalist Fabian Holoubek from Wiener Neustadt presents sensitive indie pop with depth. His songs combine personal stories with warm melodies, inviting listeners to engage and immerse themselves. With over 20 years of stage experience – including performances for Thorsteinn Einarsson, Oska, Ina Regen, and Mathea – Holoubek now steps into the spotlight himself. Live, he addresses themes such as self-discovery, harmony, and new beginnings, in an honest and approachable manner. Characterized by guitars, relaxed grooves, and a clear voice, the songs oscillate between calm moments and more powerful passages. One might never fully rid the local songwriter Bernhard Eder of his melancholy. However, with his aptly named band Low Life Rich Kids, which emerged from a theater project, he has currently turned to pop. With lively new wave songs like the biting indictment "Anti-Woke Generation," "Angst," or "Unter den Wolken," Eder, alongside actresses Coco Brell and Mara Romeies, plays the blues of the lockdown generation, flight shame, and climate catastrophe, accompanied by muted guitar and quirky keyboard sounds. This leads to an update of the Neue Deutsche Welle and societal critique.
