Johannes Mössinger Quartet

About a quarter of a century ago, pianist Johannes Mössinger began a formative journey to New York. In the exchange of ideas, the musician born in Lahr found a personal style shaped by the interplay of European and American influences. Classical music and the great heroes of jazz form the backdrop for music that often flows into a rapturous stream.

This is particularly evident in the current quartet, which garnered attention with the album "Painting in Blue": drummer Adam Nussbaum and New York trombonist Andy Hunter join Mössinger and Macedonian bassist Martin Gjakonovski, one of Europe's most distinguished jazz musicians. The freedom of improvisation and the rigor of melody and form combine to create music with an inner logic – in the tension between control and creative chaos.
