Protected forest - Neckar loop - Evolution trail

**Start/End: Neckargemünd; exact meeting point provided upon registration** Bannwald - Neckar Loop - Evolution Trail **Through the Bannwald to Earth's History** We start in the old town of Neckargemünd. After a climb, we reach the "Hollmuth" Bannwald. We cycle along the western edge of the forest, with the Elsenz stream flowing below us. Via Wiesenbach—along the Biddersbach—we reach an orchard meadow and enjoy the unique character of this special ecosystem. Through the forest, we reach Mauer and, at the town entrance, the site where “Homo Heidelbergensis” was discovered. The informational panels accompany us to the town center. Through the Wiesental valley along the Elsenz, we reach Meckesheim and turn toward Gauangelloch. We pass the "Kraichgaustein" and soon reach the Evolution Trail, which depicts the history of the Earth over a distance of 1 km. In Bammental, we take a look at the herb garden and cycle via Wiesenbach (stop for refreshments possible) back to the starting point. We cycle with helmets. Trail conditions: 70% asphalt, 30% gravel/crushed stone.
