In Café Benatzky - Leopoldi, a very special musical blend is served. One is a piano humorist and entertainer, the other a highly successful composer and author for theater, operetta, and film.

Hermann Leopoldi, forced to emigrate to America as a Jew, was just as successful there as in his homeland, and upon his return to Austria, he was loved and celebrated until his death.

Ralph Benatzky, responsible for many highly successful operettas, including "The White Horse Inn," was present in many European metropolises but left this Europe out of disgust for the Nazi regime of the 1930s and to protect his Jewish lover. However, he could not establish himself in America, rejecting offers from UFA to work on German films from exile, and returned after the war only to be forgotten.

Two lives, two fates, two careers compared.

Klezmer, jazz, and Viennese songs unite to create a special blend. Oh Luise... in Barnabittengasse... What do I gain from loving you... In a small café in Hernals... and so on.

This musical delicacy is prepared by one of the best Klezmer bands in the country and served by a head waiter with perfection, heart, and dedication.
