Extinction. A Decay - Burgtheater Vienna

In a stage adaptation by Therese Willstedt and Jeroen Versteele, private tutor Franz-Josef Murau receives a telegram from his sisters informing him of the fatal accident involving his parents and brother. He sets out from Rome to his family residence in Wolfsegg, Upper Austria. This involuntary return to his homeland triggers a true flood of memories about his conflict-ridden youth and his existence as an outsider in a society still marked by fascist tendencies. Swedish director Therese Willstedt takes on the material for the stage and interprets it as a central text for Austria's coming to terms with its past.
