Open Monument Day

The Deutschordensschloss opens its doors and, under the motto "Valuable," shows everything impressive and worth protecting that lies behind the beautiful castle facade. The motto of this year's Open Monument Day is "NETWORKS: Monuments & Infrastructure." Achberg Castle is a living cultural monument that is integrated into many networks. It is part of a team of full-time and freelance artists and cultural workers and is actively involved in monument preservation. During the renovation phase around 35 years ago, the infrastructure for today's use was created. Get to know the protagonists of these networks: The curator of the exhibition, Marie-Theres Pecher, offers a slow art tour of the Karl Hofer exhibition, and the architect of the model renovation, Günter Bestfleisch, talks about the challenges of the past and the difficulties that were overcome. History educator Steffi Marschner introduces young history fans to the history of the Teutonic Order castle. New this year: Ursula Rückgauer, district monument protection officer for the Ravensburg district, will offer a special tour on the topic of "A turning point in monument protection using the example of Achberg Castle."
