“Flamenco Facets” showcases flamenco in all its dimensions – tradition-conscious, vibrant, and full of expressive power. Set in the atmospheric surroundings of the Botanical Garden.
**ARTISTS**
**ANJANITA – Vocals**
A Romance scholar, singer, and cultural mediator: She has been performing on stages in Austria and abroad for many years, having lived in the cradle of flamenco and led tours through the Flamenco Dance Museum in Seville, among other experiences. She studied in Andalusia with renowned figures such as Ezequiel Benítez and Encarna Anillo, and has also engaged with contemporary influences. She combines singing, context, and stories – accessible, knowledgeable, and close to the audience.
**MARTIN MAYR – Guitar**
Trained at the Vienna Music Institute and the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz in electric guitar and flamenco guitar. He explores flamenco in theory and practice – both in Austria and on-site in Andalusia. Influenced by teachers like Domingo Rubichi and Pepe del Morao, his main interest lies in accompanying singers.
**STEFAN BÄRTHLEIN – Guitar**
From self-taught to flamenco guitarist: After exploring genres from metal to jazz, his search for sound colors ultimately led him to flamenco. He has studied with Flaco de Nerja, Antonio Heredia “El Chonico,” Antonio Andrade, and Niño de Elche. As a long-time dance accompanist, he is at home in dialogical play; inspired by the newer generation around Vicente Amigo, Dani de Morón, and Diego del Morao.
**NADJA APFLER “LA MATI” – Dance**
Her passion for flamenco ignited at the age of 14. During her studies, she completed a dance education to become a certified dance educator with a focus on flamenco and tap dance. Continuous further education in international workshops as well as extended stays in Spain and the USA shape her style: technically precise, rhythmically pointed, and narratively expressive.
As a dance educator, she teaches in Linz, where she shares her knowledge and enthusiasm for flamenco with students of all ages.
