Hidden Gem: The Sacristy

Themed tour with Karin Pauly The sacristy in the Bronnbach monastery is a hidden gem. It was created during the first construction phase of the monastery, and the current furnishings date back to the 18th century. The furniture, adorned with magnificent carvings, references St. Bernard of Clairvaux as well as the room's primary purpose: to prepare the priest for the celebration of the Holy Mass. The large ceiling painting – the artist is unknown – consists of 8 interconnected scenes and is accompanied by 4 smaller images. Jörg Paczkowski, the former director of the County Museum of Wertheim, aptly describes these paintings with the following words: “The paintings in the Bronnbach sacristy tell of sacrifice, of charity and hope, of forgiveness and of the power and grace of God, and they point to the behavior of the clergy and their duties.”
