MICHELANGELO: LOVE AND DEATH
The spectacular sculptures and paintings of Michelangelo seem very familiar to us – but what do we really know about this titan of the Renaissance? Michelangelo's genius is evident in everything he touched. Beautiful and diverse works such as the towering statue of David, the moving Pietà in St. Peter's Basilica, and his masterpiece, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, still leave us speechless today.
Michelangelo: LOVE AND DEATH spans his entire 88 years of life and takes us on a cinematic journey through the exhibition spaces of Europe, through the grand chapels and museums of Florence, Rome, and the Vatican, to learn more about the tumultuous life of this legendary man, his relationships with those around him, and his incredible artistic legacy. Expert commentary, breathtaking images, and Michelangelo's own words provide us with a new perspective on an artist whose life’s work and genius are celebrated in each of his creations.
The film returns to cinemas to celebrate the 550th birthday of this unique artist. Film in original English version with German subtitles.
