Traditional Provincial Marksmen's Celebration in Puch

During the 66th Anton Wallner Memorial Celebration in Puch near Hallein, all flag detachments from the 111 marksmen companies and guards of the state of Salzburg will parade on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

The honor companies will be provided by the Historical Marksmen's Company Puch and the Jakobischützen from St. Jakob am Thurn. The celebration will be accompanied by the traditional music bands from Puch, Oberalm, and Elsbethen. The participation of the Military Music Salzburg is also a highlight.

Planned schedule for the Anton Wallner Memorial Celebration:
From 8:00 AM: Arrival of the marksmen companies and guards in Puch
Until 9:00 AM: Refreshment stations open in the village
Around 9:30 AM: Commemoration of the dead at the war memorial in front of the parish church
10:00 AM: Anton Wallner Memorial Mass in the parish church of Puch with all Salzburg marksmen flags, celebrated by State Marksmen Superior Richard Weyringer and Dean Markus Danner
Around 11:00 AM: Formation in the parking lot behind the municipality with a short festive act
Afterwards: Parade of the flag detachments through the town center at Lindingerhügel

The district association of the Tennengau marksmen, the Historical Marksmen's Company Puch, and the Jakobischützen from St. Jakob am Thurn, along with the municipality of Puch near Hallein and the Puch Tourism Association, look forward to this unique celebration with many participants and spectators!

Information for visitors:
Tip: We particularly recommend the festive act followed by the parade starting around 11:00 AM!
Public transport: Travel comfortably by bus and train. Puch has two S-Bahn stations and several bus stops.
Parking for visitors: Free parking spaces are available on Schulstraße between the green waste site and the primary school, as well as at the senior citizens' home.

About the history:
The Pinzgau native Anton Wallner was the supreme commander of the Salzburg freedom fighters during the Napoleonic invasion of 1809. Jakob Strucker, Peter Sieberer, Josef Struber, and Johann Panzl were also significantly involved in this uprising. Since Anton Wallner's death day falls around February 15, the marksmen in the state of Salzburg commemorate him every year. The representatives of the Salzburg marksmen companies and guards will express their connection to their homeland as well as camaraderie and solidarity among the Salzburg marksmen during the Anton Wallner Memorial Celebration. The Salzburg marksmen also wish to remember all fallen, missing, and deceased comrades, particularly recalling the time of the freedom struggles around 1809.
