Shoe salesman Marty (Timothée Chalamet) has only one goal in life: to win the table tennis world championship and thus rise to the Olympus of celebrated athletes, among whom he already counts himself. In order to participate in the British Championships in far-off London, the young con artist puts everything on the line, but in the nerve-wracking final, he has to concede defeat to the Japanese sports star Endo. However, this is just the beginning of an odyssey that takes the perpetually broke Marty far beyond his limits. For his uncle's small shoe store, his dream is a size too big.

Timothée Chalamet shines as MARTY SUPREME, who risks everything for his piece of fame. Directed by Josh Safdie, his globe-trotting adventure takes us from the backyards of Manhattan to the vibrant cities of Paris, London, Cairo, and Tokyo in the 1950s. In supporting roles, Gwyneth Paltrow makes her grand return to the big screen, alongside Fran Drescher from THE NANNY, rising star Odessa A’zion, and Tyler Okonma – known as Tyler, the Creator – in his first film role.
