Excursion with the Government Authority Tübingen Government District

The nature reserve "Scharlenbachtal-Hofwald" near Starzeln is characterized by a particularly high biological diversity. A variety of habitats, ranging from dry calcareous grasslands to wet fens, are present, which in turn host a diverse array of animal and plant life. Many species of animals and plants can still be found here that have long since disappeared from other places. Among them are inconspicuous highlights such as the Mountain Alcon Blue butterfly, the Narrow-mouthed Snail, and Davall's Sedge. For this reason, the idyllic valley was declared a nature reserve over 20 years ago.

As part of a small circular hike, we want to learn about the special features of the nature reserve and understand how complex the interplay of soil, water, climate, animals, plants, and humans can be. In recent years, many changes have also occurred in the Scharlenbachtal. Some have been positive, while others have gone in the opposite direction. Based on the measures taken in recent years, it will be explained how global changes are also felt locally and how the nature conservation administration is counteracting these changes. This "expedition into the homeland" gives nature enthusiasts of all ages the opportunity to rediscover the landscape right at their doorstep and engage in conversation with the nature conservation administration.
