Okulation - Grafting of Fruit Trees

Do you want to preserve your favorite apple or pear variety? For this so-called grafting of fruit trees, a lot of expertise and craftsmanship is required. Joachim Löckelt, a specialist advisor for fruit and horticulture, will show you how it's done. You want to preserve your favorite apple or pear variety? It takes more than just a seed, as to achieve exactly the same characteristics, the mother variety must be "cloned." For this so-called grafting of fruit trees, a lot of expertise and craftsmanship is required. Under the expert guidance of Joachim Löckelt, a specialist advisor for fruit and horticulture at the Tübingen District Office, we will learn in this course how to successfully connect scions (mother variety) to a strongly growing rootstock (trunk and root system). In this summer grafting (budding), a grafting point for our future fruit trees will be created. All participants can graft two varieties and take them home to plant. Scions can also be brought along. Please bring: grafting knife (if available).
