Diviners

The divinatory rises to lofty heights. The comforting heaviness of the late hour, the wine, and the camaraderie that many associate with Viennese music is not their concern. They give their melodies a radical fresh air treatment. One can feel the cool breeze in the ears: sharp and spicy, radiant and sparkling the tone, delicate and light-footed the melodies. More frizzante than spritzer. Many a typically Viennese motif is thoroughly aired out. In doing so, the diviners do not break away from the musical traditions surrounding polka, landler, dudler, heurigen music, and Viennese songs – quite the opposite: One can sense in every measure of their interpretations and arrangements both the intense engagement with the sound ideals of the time and the deep respect for the sources. Additionally, the musicians seem to effortlessly combine technical perfection with elegant nonchalance. (Sandra Hupfauf)
