Purple is the Color

We are very pleased to welcome Purple is The Color for the first time at IGEL, Folk-Club Waidhofen. The jazz quartet led by Upper Austrian pianist and bandleader Simon Raab has established itself since its founding in 2016 as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary jazz. The band plays music that combines clear melodic lines with vibrant improvisation and captivates particularly in live performances through strong presence and communicative interplay. After intense years on European stages and a year-long residency as the house band at Porgy & Bess, the group released their new album "Unmanned Spaceship" in the fall of 2025, a work that showcases the band's evolved sound and their intuitive collaboration. With joy in playing and depth, Purple is the Color live is an experience to look forward to.
