VHS Lecture: Picture Journey through Waidhofen: The Post-War Period and a Stroll through the Upper Town Square

In 2026, we will take a joint look at the post-war period. We will see images from the end of the war in Waidhofen, the entry of the Russians into Waidhofen, their command center, and their party headquarters. We will accompany the slow return to a normal life, seeing pictures from the Zeller Kirtag, the harsh but beautiful winters, and the celebrations. We will track the changes of the cinema parking lot, which once housed a tennis court, an ice skating rink in winter, a beautiful beer garden, and a barrack settlement. We will remember the vanished Rothschild sawmill near Eurospar.

And we will continue our walk through the city. This time, we will admire some houses in the Upper Town Square that take us deep into Waidhofen's past.
