Black Forest for Connoisseurs - Unspoiled Nature and Beautiful Views: A hike through the cultural landscape of the central Black Forest, past proud Black Forest farms with their associated chapel and happy cows. In the past, capercaillies were commonly found in the heights of the central Black Forest. In Tennenbronn, over 50 of these fascinating birds were counted at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, their population in the Black Forest is severely endangered. During the hike, we will follow in the footsteps of Emperor Wilhelm II on a capercaillie hunt. The Emperor shot three capercaillies in Tennenbronn on May 9, 1908. Black Forest guide Martin Gießhaber will reenact a hunt, and those who wish can try to "shoot" a capercaillie themselves. The family-friendly tour starts at the Remsbach hiking parking lot. The meeting point is the Nature Park Star. The route is 8 km long with only a few elevation changes and largely follows the "Momentary Round Capercaillie Trail." We will take 3.5 to 4 hours, enjoying the fascinating landscape and immersing ourselves in a time when capercaillies still roamed Tennenbronn, and life ticked at a different pace. Just come along and bring good footwear, drinks, and a small snack. There are no refreshment options along the way.
