Winter hike

With a magnificent view of Kandel and the Black Forest (in good weather), we begin our winter hike at the Buchholz train station. The path takes us through the vineyards up to the edge of the forest and from there over the Mörtelbuck into the Reichenbach Valley. We cross the stream and climb through the vineyards up to Burgstell. From there, the view extends over all of Sexau. We hike through the forest past the Dunkelhütte to the "Kandelblick" above Herrenhof. From here, one can see the entire Black Forest all the way to the Blauen. We now walk on familiar paths to the Kohlenbach hiking lodge. There, we will take a break. We are greeted with a hot potato soup with or without sausage. Coffee and cake will also be provided. The return journey takes us back through the Kohlenbach Valley to Waldkirch. Destination: Schlettstadtallee, Waldkirch Arrival: 4:00 PM Hiking time: Buchholz – hiking lodge 2.5 hours / hiking lodge – Waldkirch 1.5 hours Registration by: February 17, 2026, so that the lodge keeper can plan accordingly. Equipment: Weather-appropriate clothing, hiking poles, drinks.
