At the Kulturhaus Schwanen in Waiblingen, the documentary "Cycling Cities" by and with Ingwar Perowanowitsch will be shown on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 7:30 PM – an evening of film with the filmmaker in conversation and an open World Café centered around the topic of cycling. The event is organized in cooperation with Waiblingen climate-neutral and invites discussion about the future of cycling in our region. Perowanowitsch has been traveling by bike for months: Freiburg, Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Groningen, Hamburg, Copenhagen – he portrays cities across Europe that consistently focus on good paths, safe intersections, and community interaction. His film shows how visions become concrete spaces where people can travel more relaxed, faster, and quieter. After the screening, the evening continues at Schwanen: In a film discussion with Ingwar Perowanowitsch, the audience will gain direct insights into experiences that are usually only known from afar. In the World Café, visitors and experts will gather ideas, impressions, and wishes for Waiblingen and the region: How does cycling in Waiblingen feel right now? What is going well? Where are the challenges? And what can we learn from cities that have had the courage to take new paths? Experts joining the discussion include Ingwar Perowanowitsch (journalist, filmmaker & cycling activist), Anselm Kick (cycling coordinator, City of Waiblingen), and Gerhard Brenner (bicycle mechanic & workshop owner). The evening offers a space for exchange between everyday cyclists, administration, initiatives, and anyone curious about how mobility can be thought of as social, safe, and climate-friendly.
