The selection of suitable rootstocks and cultivation concepts is becoming increasingly important in orchard management in light of climate change and emerging pests. The working group of the Pomological Society is addressing this challenge. Christoph Schulz, a co-founder of the working group and co-implementer of various projects in this field, will shed light on findings from current rootstock research on apples and pears, the significance of ancient trees, and concepts for growing one's own rootstocks in his presentation. Participants will gain practical insights into how they can produce rootstocks locally and what is required for this. Additionally, there will be an open exchange session where participants can share experiences and learn from one another. This event is intended for participants of all experience levels and offers great potential for knowledge enhancement.
