A young Viennese man with Polish roots, whose 16-year-old brother sympathizes with the Nazi era, cannot understand how such a right-wing shift is possible today. His youngest brother is the same age as their neighbor Erich Finsches was when the annexation turned his life into a catastrophe: 10 years old. Today, Erich is 98, lives in the apartment below the three brothers, and has become a good friend over the years. The story of his friend, who survived the Holocaust, simply won't let our protagonist go. And so he begins to tell.
