Speed - In the Final Stretch

A bus is traveling through the landscape of Lower Austria. On board is the ensemble of the regional theater. The atmosphere is relaxed. Someone has brought a guitar and invites everyone to sing a song. Cheese sandwiches are being eaten, and the world is being explained. And surely someone discovers the microphone by the driver. The actors, who have experienced a lot together both on stage and in their private lives, indulge in memories. They share their triumphs as well as their failures, revealing their longings for the roles they have always wanted to play. It was a wild time. In the midst of it all, there is this standstill. Not only the beautiful memories remain. But also. Wonderful years... Suddenly, a police officer wants to get on; there is a problem. A cozy outing turns into a race against time. The ensemble experiences its last great adventure... Inspired by well-known Hollywood action thrillers, the play by the directing duo Sarah Viktoria Frick and Martin Vischer is an evening about farewells, unfulfilled dreams, and still open wishes – in reality as well as in theater. The successful recipe of Frick and Vischer is to completely turn upside down large (pop) cultural materials, to alienate them ironically, and to enrich them with existential questions. Thus, Frick and Vischer develop a theater-action-road movie in which legendary Hollywood actors are replaced by the entire ensemble of the regional theater. "Speed – In the Final Stretch" is the last production under the artistic direction of Marie Rötzer.
