Bahnhofstraße 40-42, 6800 Feldkirch

On traveling, fleeing, and returning home. What do Carl Zuckmayer, Lenin, James Joyce, and Emperor Karl I have in common? They all made a stop at the Feldkirch train station to reach Switzerland. The station's proximity to the Swiss border gave it special significance, especially during the terrifying years of National Socialism. From here, men were sent off to war, people were transported to concentration camps, and forced laborers were deported to Vorarlberg. After World War II, the development took a fortunate turn, making the station the most heavily used mobility hub in the country. With the construction of the current station city, a forward-looking urban district was created.
