Basket weaving has a long tradition in Burgenland; in the past, many households in Burgenland wove baskets during the winter. However, over time, this craft has almost been forgotten. Therefore, learn the skill of this technique under expert guidance and take your handmade artwork home with you. In the 7-hour course, you will weave a bread basket or a basket with a hole handle.
Bread Basket/Basket with Hole Handle
We will weave a small basket for bread, fruit, vegetables, and various small items. The first basic steps of basket weaving will be demonstrated here. This is an ideal introduction to basket weaving. And if you wish, you can incorporate practical hole handles right into your weaving.
Introduction to Willow
At the beginning, there will also be a brief overview of the cultivation, care, harvesting, and storage of basket willows. We will provide information on the right choice of location and which varieties are best suited for which purposes.
