Comprehensive approach to orchard meadows – what can municipalities do to preserve orchard meadows?

At this event, mayors or municipal employees will receive a comprehensive overview of the various opportunities to advocate for traditional orchards. It is estimated that about 22% of the traditional orchards in the region are in municipal ownership. Municipalities also play an important key role in relation to private orchard owners. However, the preservation of these valuable landscapes presents municipalities with particular challenges: In the context of tight budgets, land pressure, and increasingly complex mandatory tasks, there is a lack of ideas and responsibilities for engagement in the maintenance of traditional orchards. This event will provide mayors or municipal employees with a comprehensive overview of the various opportunities to advocate for traditional orchards. From mistletoe infestation to ecological accounts and funding pots: we will look at best practice examples, present project ideas and participation opportunities, increase networking levels, and listen attentively to the issues faced by municipalities.
