The bonfire in Mühlhofen will take place this year on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Selsenberg. Join us as the traditional bonfire is lit, as usual, on the weekend after Ash Wednesday – an ancient fire custom that is still widely practiced in the Swabian-Alemannic region today. The origin of this custom is unclear, although it is documented to have existed exceptionally early. However, it is believed that the bonfire originates from a pagan Germanic tradition aimed at driving away winter.
