The maintenance of the old orchard tree populations is intended to contribute to the preservation of the typical cultural landscape in the Attersee-Traunsee Nature Park.

In this all-day seminar, participants will be introduced to the theoretical and practical world of orchard management by expert Heimo Strebl.

Proper handling and pruning play a particularly important role in orchard cultivation and not only have a positive effect on the quality and quantity of the harvest but also significantly contribute to the promotion of local biodiversity. Numerous different pruning techniques will be applied immediately during several practical exercises under expert guidance.

The theoretical part of the fruit tree pruning course will cover the following topics:
- Reasons for pruning fruit trees
- Tree and training forms
- Rootstocks and their characteristics
- Growth laws of fruit trees
- Life stages of trees and associated pruning types
- Execution of the individual pruning types
- Pruning periods for different fruit species
- Specifics of individual fruit species
- Tools and pruning techniques
- Wound closure

Costs:
€20 for members of the Attersee-Traunsee Nature Park Association
€26 for non-members
