CONTENT: "Time is life, and life dwells in the heart."
No one knows where this girl named Momo comes from. One day, she is simply there. And soon, she wins the hearts of the children and adults living nearby. For Momo knows how to see with the heart. Momo has all the time in the world; she can listen wonderfully, calm and patient. However, silently, unnoticed, and relentlessly, a disease in the form of the gray men spreads. They steal time from people, and the more time they have, the less heart people possess. Momo uncovers the secret of the gray men and confronts the battle with the time thieves. She wants to save her little and big friends who have fallen into the clutches of the time thieves.
The stage adaptation of "Momo" was a joint production of the Pistatschios theater group in 1996, based on the book of the same name by Michael Ende. At that time, 30 young people and children from the learning workshop brought the story of Momo, her friends, and the time thieves to life. And now, exactly 30 years later, this play is being revived.
The themes in the play are more relevant today than ever. How many time-saving inventions have we created since the book was first published? And how much time have we gained because of them?
AGE RECOMMENDATION: Here are some details about the play to help you parents decide if it is suitable for your child:
Momo is a profound play full of wisdom and life. The plot is somewhat complex, but Momo gently guides the audience through the story. Tension arises with the appearance of the gray men. These figures, dressed entirely in gray, threaten people's worldview. The themes, although extensive, are understandable as they address issues that are close to our hearts. It is about friendship, responsibility, taking time, and having time.
