Concert with the Princely Löwenstein Court Music

The most musical member of the Princely House of Löwenstein-Wertheim was undoubtedly Carl Friedrich from the Freudenberg line. From 1814 onwards, he developed a very active musical life at the former Augustinian Canonry of Triefenstein. He created an orchestra from musically talented staff that performed a concert every week at Triefenstein Castle. Carl Friedrich zu Löwenstein (1781-1852) was actively supported in his musical endeavors by his composition teacher, the last Würzburg court conductor, Friedrich Witt (1770-1836). Numerous arrangements by Witt for the Triefenstein Orchestra, as well as many original compositions, bear witness to their close collaboration. The "Princely Soiree" features not only works by Friedrich Witt and Carl Friedrich zu Löwenstein but also compositions by the Bohemian musician Franz Krommer (1759-1831), the Viennese publisher Franz Anton Hoffmeister (1754-1812), and Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Thus, this evening reflects a period when culture was practiced at a high level and made accessible to all in a region that was then structurally weak. The six-member ensemble "Princely Löwenstein Court Music" is not only a regular guest at the "Tölzer Serenaden," the "Musikzauber Franken," and the concert series "Music in Franconian Castles," but also at the "Music Summer between Inn and Salzach," the "Rosetti Festival Days," as well as the "Hohenlohe Cultural Summer," the "Mozart Festival Würzburg," and the "International Music Festival Kreuth."
