As part of this special project, three excellent younger musicians, two of whom are brothers Magnus and Ferenc Mehl, collaborate with saxophonist and composer Bernd Konrad. Ferenc and Magnus both went through the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Talent Forge under Konrad's leadership more than 20 years ago, the state jazz orchestra. Now, the artists meet in this exciting, uncompromising combo project on equal footing. The ensemble is completed by Serbian bass virtuoso Fedor Ruskuc. From the very first concert, the mood and atmosphere within the band were relaxed and inspired. Each band member contributes their own compositions to the program. The performances of the ensemble are characterized by spontaneity and a high degree of interaction. Soft, fragile improvisations are dreamily whispered into the space, explosive, virtuosic cascades of sound, and complex, multi-layered soundscapes. All four musicians impress with their class as instrumentalists and improvisers, complementing each other excellently with their respective individual musical voices and harmonizing across generations at the highest level.
