Monti Beton & Johann K. - The Italo-American Show

The success program of the Viennese cult band and the legendary Rapid player is a musical passion project of the three tenors Thomas Schreiber, Toni Matosic, and Hans Krankl. Their love for Italian music and American music with Italian roots allows for an unprecedented mix of oldies and super hits from the last few decades. On one hand, there’s Adriano Celentano's "Questo ragazzo della via Gluck," Gianni Morandi's "Sciende la piogga," Zucchero's "Guantanamera," Tony Dallara's "Come prima," and on the other hand, Dean Martin's "That’s Amore" and "On an Evening in Roma," Elvis Presley's "It’s Now or Never" and "Surrender," Faust Leali's "Hurt," among many others. As always, alongside the special interpretations of the songs, there is also plenty of information and witty remarks provided spontaneously by the protagonists in the typical Monti Beton style.

CHEERS! Monti Beton & Johann K.: There are hardly any bands in Europe that dedicate themselves so intensely to the cultivation of elevated rock and pop music—without acting as a typical cover band—like the Vienna-based group MONTI BETON. Specifically, the band has been focusing for over 40 years primarily on artists or groups that are no longer seen live, yet whose music can now be considered contemporary. MONTI BETON consistently manages to connect with the roots of this music and its artists, thereby conveying the greatest possible message of the original without imitating it, but rather interpreting it in the typical MONTI BETON style, meaning humorously entertaining. MONTI BETON has its own full-length programs dedicated to the music of The Beatles, Elvis, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, David Bowie, and The Doors, among others. In the last 20 years, the Viennese cult band, together with goal scorer Hans Krankl, has developed additional programs: "The Night of Austropop," "Christmas Classics Extravaganza," "Il Spettacolo Italo-Americano," and "The Schlager Night of Schlager." In October 2015, Johann K. and Monti Beton celebrated their joint 10th anniversary on stage with a unique event at the large Vienna City Hall. On July 5, 2025, the 20th stage anniversary was fittingly celebrated at the sold-out Vienna State Opera.
