Spellbound Contemporary Ballet

Dance that gets under your skin: Since 1994, Spellbound Contemporary Ballet has been exploring the boundaries of contemporary dance – innovative, virtuosic, intelligent. It’s no surprise that the company, founded by Mauro Astolfi in Italy, has developed into an internationally leading ensemble. Since 2022, Spellbound has been recognized as a national production center for dance in Rome and regularly collaborates with renowned artists and institutions such as Jean Guillaume Weis, Sang Jijia, Marcos Morau, and Jacopo Godani. The multi-part evening showcases the full range of this exceptional formation. The piece "Trust" dissects the fragile architecture of interpersonal relationships – a vibrant duet of closeness and risk that makes the vulnerability of attachment palpable. "If You Were a Man," on the other hand, addresses the attributions of masculinity with choreographic precision – powerful, poetic, and devoid of any pathos. All four works demonstrate how dance makes social issues visible without articulating them explicitly. An evening that challenges, touches – and will surely resonate long after.
