Day of Open Monuments 2026: NETWORKS – Monuments & Infrastructure

Sunday, September 13, 2026 This year, the Day of Open Monuments, celebrating its 30th anniversary at Lake Constance, is themed "NETWORKs – Monuments & Infrastructure." In line with this, the Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen focuses on a variety of different "networks." These include both networks of the past, such as trade networks for flint, glass, and salt, as well as networks of the present, such as the connection of archaeological science with interested laypeople and local historians, known as "Citizen Science," which has gained importance worldwide in recent years. In this context, private individuals work closely with scientific institutions to document, preserve, and convey the cultural heritage of a region. To further support this noble intention, visitors to the Pfahlbaumuseum have the opportunity to have antiquities discovered in their attic or during their own research from the time before Christ identified by the museum's scientific department.
