Open Monument Day 2026: NETZwerke – Monuments & Infrastructure

**Sunday, September 13, 2026** This year, Open Monument Day, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary on Lake Constance, has the motto "NETWORKS – Monuments & Infrastructure." In keeping with this theme, the Lake Dwelling Museum in Unteruhldingen is focusing on a variety of different "networks." These include both networks of the past, such as trade networks for flint, glass, and salt, as well as networks of the present, such as the networking of archaeological science with interested laypeople and local historians, known as "citizen science," which has gained importance around the world in recent years. Here, private individuals work closely with scientific institutions to document, preserve, and communicate the cultural heritage of a region. To further support this honorable intention, visitors to the Lake Dwelling Museum have the opportunity to have antiquities from the time before Christ discovered in their attics or in the course of their own research identified by the museum's scientific department.
