UNESCO World Heritage Day 2026: Together for Peace and Understanding

Sunday, June 7, 2026 The UNESCO World Heritage Day 2026 is themed "Together for Peace and Understanding," reflecting the fundamental idea of UNESCO: to jointly preserve the cultural heritage of humanity in order to promote understanding and peace among different cultures. The importance of cooperation during the Stone Age and the subsequent Bronze Age is highlighted by the pile dweller "Uhldi," one of the oldest employees of the Pile Dwelling Museum in Unteruhldingen. For example, it would have been nearly impossible to transport copper and tin or even amber over thousands of kilometers to the World Heritage site of the Central European pile dwellings without people who preferred peaceful exchange over raiding. On this day, Uhldi can be found in the museum's new DISCOVERY COURSE, where he shares his immense knowledge of prehistory through practical demonstrations and engaging storytelling. Participation in the event is included in the museum's admission price.
