Friday, April 10, 2026, from 10 AM to 1 PM and from 4 PM to 5 PM Nowadays, tin is mostly used only for occasional activities, such as tin figures or the traditional tin casting during the New Year's festival. Over 3,000 years ago, however, things were different: at that time, tin was literally the element that held together societies from the East and West. Because without tin, there is no bronze, the alloy that gives the "Bronze Age" its name. Erik Häußler, an experimental archaeologist at the pile dwellings in Unteruhldingen, explains how tin was processed, where it came from, and how one can imagine tin casting in the Bronze Age. Tip: At Mr. Häußler's booth, guests have the opportunity to create a personal amulet made of tin.
