Excursion "Discovering the Castle and Castle Garden of Neckarhausen"

The castle and castle garden of Neckarhausen are among the impressive yet lesser-known testimonies of the history of the Electoral Palatinate. During this excursion, participants will trace the footsteps of the Electoral Palatine governor Franz Albert Leopold von Oberndorff, for whom Neckarhausen represented a significant residence in the 18th century.

As part of expert-led tours, the historical interiors of the castle will first be explored. This will provide insights into the architecture, usage, and political significance of the house within the Electoral Palatine administration. Following this, the tour will proceed through the castle garden, whose design and development are closely linked to courtly culture. The tour combines historical aspects with insights into the botanical features of the park as well as its flora and fauna, with a particular emphasis on the historical context.

The excursion connects architectural history, garden art, and regional history, making a culturally significant ensemble along the Neckar tangible.

Information about the excursion:
Meeting point for the bus transfer from Schwetzingen to Neckarhausen: Karl-Wörn-Haus, Museum of the City of Schwetzingen (Marstallstraße 51, 68723 Schwetzingen).
Bus departure: 1:30 PM. Please arrive by 1:15 PM for registration at the museum.
Duration of the excursion: Approximately 4 hours.
Return to Schwetzingen: Around 5:30 PM.
Participant contribution for the excursion: Donations are welcome, payable on-site. The number of participants is limited to 19 people. Registration is required for participation.
