Schwetzingen looks back on a long and almost forgotten beer history. Once a center of brewing and hop cultivation, this tradition continues today in a modern form. With the excursion "Experiencing Beer Culture: From Schwetzingen's Brewing Tradition to Welde Enjoyment," the Museum of the City of Schwetzingen invites you to a delightful exploration of the connection between history and the present as part of the Museum frei Haus initiative. In cooperation with the Welde Brewery, participants can expect an exclusive experience centered around regional brewing art on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 3 PM to 6 PM. The event begins with an expert-guided tour of the Welde Beer World in Plankstadt, which provides insights into the history of the brewery, the beer-making process, and the significance of Schwetzingen as a historical brewing location. Following this, the group will continue to the Welde Brewery in Schwetzingen, where a guided beer tasting will round off the afternoon. Here, craftsmanship, sensory experience, and historical knowledge come together for an informative and enjoyable conclusion. The event is aimed at adults interested in local history, brewing, and beer culture. Participation is free, but the number of participants is limited to 30 people. The transfer from the Welde Beer World in Plankstadt to the Welde Brewery in Schwetzingen will be the responsibility of the participants.
