Service on the occasion of Good Friday.
Good Friday is part of the "Three-Day Celebration of the Passion and Death, the Burial, and the Resurrection of the Lord," known as the Triduum Sacrum, also referred to as the "Easter Triduum." As is traditional in the church since early Christianity, none of the sacraments associated with festive joy are celebrated on Good Friday, including the Holy Mass. The altar is bare, without candles or altar cloths. Crosses are veiled. The eternal light does not burn, and candles are only lit at the temporary location of the Blessed Sacrament.
