Adversary of All Songwriters - Cinematic Folk Music

What began in 2017 as a Dadaistic cabaret project around singer Matthias Wolf soon developed into perhaps the most unconventional formation in the German-speaking music scene: The Opponents of all singer-songwriters. By 2025: The singer-songwriter award at Kloster Banz, the cultural promotion award from the city of Munich, first TV appearances – and right in the middle of it, the next album is already in the works. What the Opponents create musically is hard to grasp – perhaps something between avant-garde chewing tobacco blues, psychedelic groove revelation, and finely crafted social criticism. Their songs swirl live through space and the hypothalamus as if Frank Zappa, Georg Kreisler, and a Bavarian drizzle had shared a guitar amplifier together. A band that fills a gap we didn’t know existed – and without which we no longer want to be.
