Pleasure hike - Industry and History

The current industrial area of Hirschhagen (Hessisch Lichtenau) was developed in and around the old buildings of the explosives factory from the 1930s. In close proximity is the former cooling pond, which is now used by the fishing club. Adjacent to this pond is the nature reserve Steinbachtal and Hirschhagener Teiche, featuring various types of water bodies and intermittently wet soils. This has allowed many animals and plants to settle here that are not as common anymore.

During the enjoyment hike "Industry & History," we will explore nature and pass by a few of the lost places of the old explosives factory. We will enjoy the fresh air and the tranquility of the forest before delving into the history of the area of Hirschhagen. This hike particularly highlights how destructive, yet also creative, human impact can be.
