Historical Zillen trip on Lake Traun: Meeting point at the museum for International Museum Day

The historical boat trip on the Zille reminds us of the centuries-old significance of salt shipping on Lake Traun and brings this important chapter of regional industrial and cultural history to life. The free round trips (voluntary donation) start hourly from 11 a.m., with the last trip at 4 p.m. Reservations are recommended. In case of bad weather, the event will take place on the alternative date of May 9, 2026. The route leads from the village square in Traunkirchen around the Johannberg, continuing to the old salt harbor, past the Traunkirchen Monastery with impressive views of the Winkel Bay, and then back to the starting point. Accompanying the boat trip, visitors can enjoy a varied supporting program: The Arche Kult Museum will be open that day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event bus of TV Traunsee-Almtal Industry Culture will also be on site and managed by Johann Prangl.
